Aiten’s Monthly Meeting – May 16th

The next regular monthly meeting will be held at the AIJ office in Shin Ochanomizu/ Kanda from 7-9pm.

We will hear reports from the Rainbow Parade, which AIJ and AITEN members took part in for the first time, and the Yamathon event in which four intrepid AITEN members plus supporters valiantly walked the length of the Yamanote Line in pouring rain in support of Plan International. Letter writing will focus on the case of gay men in Chechnya who are under attack and the on-going support of imprisoned journalists. Without free and unobstructed media, human rights cannot prevail so our support for brave individual journalists and bloggers is an essential part of Amnesty’s campaigns. We need to do some forward planning too. Come and be involved!!

All old and new human rights supporters are very welcome to come and share your ideas!! Scroll down for a map.

AITEN events and meetings in March 18th -20th – 21th !

1. This Saturday, 18th March 2017, Sacred Heart International School
will hold their annual Family Festival.

And again this year the organizers have waived the fee for the table so that AITEN members and supporters can ask
people to write and/or sign cards for Prisoners of Conscience, to buy AI goods or make a  donation, and can support and exchange ideas with the school AI group.
There is food and drink from around the world, an amazing range of stuff to buy, and the festival will go ahead rain or shine, so come to Hiroo subway station on
the Hibiya Line (one stop from Ebisu), enjoy the festival (it runs from 10:00 to 16:00), and help out on our table for an hour or so.
We really need your help!

AITEN Meeting – June 28th (Tue), Nakameguro Square

Hello everyone,

Our June meeting was postponed to allow us to go and support the Tokyo LGBT community after the terrible events of Orlando.

Note in your agendas: Tuesday 28th, 19:00

We’ll rehearse the skit that we plan to debut at What the Dickens on July 3rd (Sun). Their open mic event, MC’d by AITEN member Tom, is slated to start at 5pm but there’s usually not much action before 6pm. It will be short & snappy and we plan to involve some members of the audience. However, the more AITEN members there the better so please put it in your diary and make a big effort to be there on the 28th so we can polish the presentation. It’s going to be fun and hopefully reach some people who haven’t heard of AI yet. It could be useful for school and uni groups as a way of introducing AI’s work.

ADDRESS : The venue is new. Nakameguro Square is a community centre that’s a 7-8 minute walk from Nakameguro Station (along Yamate Dori). It will be in Room No 3 and will be listed NOT as AITEN but as Meguro Feldenkrais Group.
