Aiten’s Monthly Meeting – May 16th

The next regular monthly meeting will be held at the AIJ office in Shin Ochanomizu/ Kanda from 7-9pm.

We will hear reports from the Rainbow Parade, which AIJ and AITEN members took part in for the first time, and the Yamathon event in which four intrepid AITEN members plus supporters valiantly walked the length of the Yamanote Line in pouring rain in support of Plan International. Letter writing will focus on the case of gay men in Chechnya who are under attack and the on-going support of imprisoned journalists. Without free and unobstructed media, human rights cannot prevail so our support for brave individual journalists and bloggers is an essential part of Amnesty’s campaigns. We need to do some forward planning too. Come and be involved!!

All old and new human rights supporters are very welcome to come and share your ideas!! Scroll down for a map.

STOP PRESS!! MOVIE NIGHT Oct 10th (public hol)

Next Monday, October 10th, is a public holiday. We are going to show the Howard Zinn film “You Can’t be Neutral on a Moving Train”, starting 5pm at Good Heavens British pub, a few mins from Shimokitazawa South Exit. (Scroll down to find a map or google it!) Join us for a drink or a meal and a chance to learn more about a historian of great intelligence who clarified the realities of US history & world relations for a generation brought up on an unthinking acceptance of myths.
On Nov 3rd (also a public holiday) we will show the Michael Moore movie “Where to Invade Next”, that we showed before the summer – same time, same place.  More info on that later.
Please tell your friends & acquaintances and post this widely. It will be a really interesting film for sure.
